Domains of interest: Research Interests Collaborative language learning, reflective learning, conversational analysis, CMC and multimodal conferencing, online learning cultures. The need to determine appropriate distance-teaching methods for use with teleconferencing software tools has meant that I have gradually moved my interests towards researching mediation of teaching and learning through these tools. My interests cover learning conversations and peer learning in computer-mediated communication, and they involve paying particular attention to all aspects of the interaction between the learners and the technology. The use by learners of multimodal teleconferencing environments and corpus-building to facilitate research on interactions from such environments are my present focus.

- 2004-2007 ODIL, a study of interactive language learning through different forms of Internet conferencing groupware.
